M/S Rosella

Overview

M/S Rosella is a cruiseferry owned by Viking Line group, built in 1980. It is operating as a cruise ship on the route between Sweden and the Aland Islands with six crossings during the high season. The ship has a length of 136 meters and a speed of 20 knots. M/S Rosella carries 1700 passengers and 340 cars.

eMarines solution for M/S Rosella consists of optimization and automatization of HVAC, pump control and engine room ventilation. In addition, a new user-friendly control system focusing on comfort and energy saving was installed. All work performed during regular operations with no need to disrupt or dry dock the vessel.

Our solution

CONTROL SYSTEM
A new control system for HVAC, Pre- and Re-heat heating, pumps and chillers were installed. The system is adjusted specifically for M/S Rosella and targets power consumption, comfort, and usability.

HVAC
For the HVAC unit an installation of drives were made for cabin-, public-, and service-units, each with their own individual regulation by temperature, Co2 or/and humidity. Recirculation dampers were included in the steering to achieve the most economical drift meanwhile increasing comfort. All of this is monitored by an automatic steering system with focus on board climate and energy performance.

PUMPS
Six drives were installed for AC SW, Re-Heat and boiler feedwater pumps. Temperature-, pressure- and differential pressure sensors. AC SW, Pre- and Re-Heating pumps are integrated in the new control system and the rest of pumps are installed as stand-alone solutions.

HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM
The original heat recovery system from ME Cooling water that was rebuilt to heat both pre-, re-and potable water. New control valves and heat exchangers were installed. The heat recovery system was integrated in the new control system.

The calculated pay-off time for the whole project is XX years.
